Add approximately 0.5g sample in 5ml methanol. Inject a methanol blank, followed
by the composite samples.

Method of derivatization: To a 100ml round-bottom flask with a magnetic stirring bar was
added (S)-(+)-3-hydroxytetrahydrofuran (0.088g, 1.0 mmol, 1.0 equiv), 4-Dimethylaminopyridine
(30mg) and CH2Cl2 (10ml). Pyridine (0.3 ml, 3.0 mmol, 3.0 equiv) was added via syringe. The
solution was cooled to 0℃ prior to addition of Ac2O (0.19 ml, 2.0 mmol, 2.0 equiv). The reaction
mixture was stirred for 12 hours at room temperature. The aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl
acetate (3 × 50 ml). The combined organic extracts were washed with water (50 ml), brine (50 ml)
and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residual crude
product was purified by flash column chromatography.
